The leasing programme for Ruakura Superhub was a key focus last week; with the announcement of Waitomo Group as the first retail/service tenant for Ruakura.
Locally-founded Waitomo Group will develop a flagship 1.6 hectare service centre incorporating Hydrogen, EV and conventional fuels, truck fuelling facilities, quick service restaurants, a cafe and a convenience store. The service centre will be accessible off the Waikato Expressway via the Ruakura interchange and is due to open in mid-2022.
TGH is pleased to see a locally-founded company take advantage of the opportunities provided by Ruakura alongside a number of national and international tenant discussions currently in progress and following the confirmation of PBT as the first logistics tenant last year.
Roading update
Two critical roading projects being delivered by Hamilton City Council are in full swing, with construction work for both projects being carried out by Schick Civil Construction Limited.
Construction is well underway on stage one – key transport connections, with one key focus area being Silverdale Road realignment (once completed the realigned Silverdale Road will link into Ruakura Road).
Other development over the past week continued around the inland port area, where shifting of the pre-load to adjacent areas continues in full swing. Meanwhile the 8-hectare wetland and connecting water-courses have been largely formed, if not yet fully immersed. The pictures below are obviously taken before the planned planting of 1 million native plants in and around this area over the next several years as part of habitat restoration and improvement. It’s great to see some native birds already making the wetland their home.
